Immunization in children:

Definition:

It is a technique which is used to induce an immune response to a specific disease in human body by exposing the individual to an antigen in order to raise antibodies to that antigen. Immunization in children is vital for prevention of the respective diseases.

Immunization Schedule by WHO/UNICEF JRF:

Immunization Schedule by WHO/UNICEF JRF is given below-

BCG At birth
DTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis) 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 14 weeks
DTP, Hib(H. influenzae type b), HepB(Hepatitis B) 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 14 weeks
OPV(Oral polio vaccine) 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 14 weeks, 38 weeks
Measles 38 weeks (9 months)
TT(Tetanus toxoid) Women of Child Bearing Age(15-49 years) –
15 Years, + 1 month, + 6 months, + 1 year, + 1 year
HepB 6 weeks, 10 weeks and 14 weeks
Vitamin A 38 weeks (9 months)
