Treatment for Scabies

[HINTS: Contd-To be continued, M- Month, ±M- Before or After Meal, AM- After Meal, ½HBM- ½ Hour Before Meal,W- Week, D-Day.2HAM- 2 Hour After Meal,bid-Twice daily, tid-Three times daily,qid-Four times daily.]

1. Application of Permethrin 5% cream all over the body, from the neck downwards and leaving the cream for 8-24 hours and then removing with soap and water and the same after 7-10 days
OR,
Application of Crotamiton 10% lotion or cream all over the body, from the neck downwards once a day after bath for 2- 5 days
OR,
Application of lotion having combination of Permethrin 5% & Crotamiton 10%, all over the body, from the neck downwards once a day after bath for 2- 5 days.
2.  Use of Calamine lotion over the skin lesions can reduce pain & itching.
3. Tab . Cetirizine (10 mg)
1 tab-once daily(Preferably at night) (±M) ——————————2 /3 W
Or,
Tab .[Pseudoephedrine Hcl + Loratadine] (120/5 ,240/10 mg)
1 tab-once daily(Preferably at night) (±M) ——————————2 /3 W
Or,
Tab .Fexofenadin Hcl (30 , 60 , 120 , 180 mg)
1 tab-once daily(Preferably at night) (±M) ——————————2 /3 W
4. Tab. Ivermectin (200 microg/kg) can be given for treatment of scabies as a single dose(can be repeated after 1-2 weeks, if needed) for immunocompromised patients or patients with crusted scabies or patients with heavy infestations or patients not responding to above prescribed lotion and cream.
