Atrial fibrillation:


Atrial fibrillation is the most common type of cardiac arrhythmia where the atria contract very fast and irregularly at a rate of > 400 beats per minute.

Clinical features:-

Clinical features of atrial fibrillation are-

1) Palpitation
2) Irregularly irregular pulse
3) Increased JVP with absence of ‘a’ wave.


1) IHD
2) Mitral valve disease
3) Hypertension
4) Thyrotoxicosis
5) Pulmonary embolism.
